Can a Culinary School Find the Chef in You?
A cooking school or culinary school is an institution devoted to education in the art and science of food preparation. It also awards degrees which indicate that a student has undergone a particular curriculum and therefore displays a certain level of competency.
Cooking schools often are associates with public restaurants where a student can acquire experience in working in a real environment and performing in many roles. Some schools, such as the Culinary Institute of America, offer programs through which a chef may demonstrate his or her knowledge and skills and be given certification.
The word culinary derives from the latin word culina, meaning kitchen. It is commonly used as reference to things related to cooking or the culinary profession.
Many people make their living cooking for others. The occupational outlook (http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos024.htm) for chefs, restaurant managers, dieteticians, and nutritionists is fairly good, with ""as fast as the average"" growth. Some college is often required for success in this field. There are trade schools, universities, and professional organizations that support this profession. (Source: Wikipedia)
